Background to DAF Originally established in 2001 to allow for unclaimed funds in credit institutions to be utilised to tackle social and economic disadvantage ‘Dormant’ defined as 15 years since last customer initiated transaction Over €150m distributed under the Fund since 2001

Background to DAF The Dormant Accounts Amendment Act 2012 provides for the distribution of funds for the purposes of programmes or projects to assist: - the personal and social development of persons who are economically or socially disadvantaged; - the educational development of persons who are educationally disadvantaged or - persons with a disability (within meaning of the Equal Status Act 2000).

Background to DAF Dormant Accounts Action Plan approved by Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Funding available on one-off basis across distinct Measures Measures 2 linked to Department of Social Protection Total of €500,000 available

Measure 2: Life after caring Focus on proposals which will support carers to cope with post care transitions and participate as fully as possible in economic and social life Recognition of the unique journey of carers post caring Support in dealing with their loss and the challenges and changes in routines and activities Making the journey to re-entering social and economic life

Measure 2: Life after caring Call is open to National Organisations only who have At least 3 years’ experience in providing support for family carers Minimum grant that can be applied for €50,000 Maximum grant that can be applied for €350,000 12 Month timeframe Project start/end date between 1st December 2017 and 31 Dec 2018

What type of costs are eligible? Staffing costs for a position directly responsible for the implementation of the proposal Staff recruitment, travel and subsistence for new position Course materials Venue Hire/Room Hire Event costs Development of training or specialist support costs Publicity and marketing Mentoring/coaching costs Online support costs Telephone support costs Indirect overhead costs at a flat rate of 5% for Community and Voluntary Organisations

Selection Criteria Meeting the measure priorities 60% Evidence of need for the proposal 20% Value for money 10% Capacity of the organisation 10%

Meeting the measure priorities How will the proposal provide support to former carers in dealing with their loss, and will proactively support carers to plan a new life at home, at work and within their community Provide evidence of information sharing and networking activities across the country in relation to “life after caring” Provide train the trainer programmes Demonstrate that the proposal is not possible without the Dormant Accounts Fund Proposals must be compatible with government policy in terms of support for carers Have a positive impact on social and economic disadvantage

Stage 1: Eligibility Submitted a complete online application form by 3pm on Wednesday 26th July 2017; Provide evidence of being a national organisation with at least 3 years’ experience in supporting carers Grant application is for €50,000 or more

Selection Process Stage 2: Meeting the selection criteria: Meeting the measure priorities Value for money and additionality Capacity of the organisation – demonstrate governance and financial controls, experience and achievements in managing public funding and delivering proposals
