Answer the following questions in full, including the question in your answer. State the definition of puberty. State the difference between puberty and adolescence. State what causes both the physical and emotional changes in boys and girls. Compare the body shape of boys ad girls after puberty. Explain why the testes make sperm and the ovaries make eggs. Explain why girls develop breasts. Explain why self-image becomes more important after adolescence.

Answers – check your own!!! Puberty is the physical changes that occur during adolescence. Adolescence is both physical and emotional changes; puberty is just the physical changes. The sex hormones released by the testes or ovaries cause the changes during adolescence. The physical changes that happen are: Boys have wider shoulders and more musculature; girls have breasts and wider hips. The sperm and eggs are made to allow humans to reproduce. Girls develop breasts to be able to feed a baby. Self-image becomes important during adolescence because it seems important to be attractive to others to gain/maintain status and relationships.
