Art, Design & Technology TOPIC: WW2 Y5 Homework: Autumn Term 2 Maths Create a timeline of events that occurred in World War 2. Find out the cost of rationed items. How much would you spend on a week’s food? Research a WW2 recipe and make it at home. Write out the ingredients and recipe. If you can, photograph the meal. Play a game of battleships! Take a photograph or ask an adult to sign your book to say you have done this. English Write instructions or an advice leaflet for citizens to follow during an air raid. Make your own WW2 word search using new vocabulary. Read and review a war based book e.g. Friend or Foe, Goodnight Mr Tom, Carrie’s War, War Boy, An Elephant in the Garden, (many of these we have in school!) History Research how WW2 affected your family or local area. Did any of them serve in the army? Experience The Blitz? Visit a WW2 museum and write a diary / review about your trip e.g. Stockport air-raid shelters. Art, Design & Technology Draw/paint and label a great airplane from WW2 e.g. British Bulldog or Spitfire. Create your own model tank, gas mask or design & make a WW2 outfit. Write your name using Morse code. Can you construct a message for a friend at school? Remember to keep practising and learning your reading, spellings and times tables too! This topic is for 8 weeks.
