Presentation transcript:

A series of left anteroposterior tibial radiographs from a 74-yr-old man with Paget's disease of bone in the left tibia. (A) The patient's tenth fracture; note chalk stick nature. The fracture did not heal with casting over 6 months. (B) The patient underwent tibial straightening with two osteotomies. He also wore an Ilizarov external fixation device for 1 yr and received 6 months of alendronate 40 mg daily. (C) The left tibia is much straighter. The patient now walks with a clamshell leg brace.
