Programme of Activities: Children will be in groups of approximately 10. Each group will have a designated adult assigned to them for the duration of their stay. A member of teaching staff will be floating to assist helpers where required. All children and staff are covered by school insurance. Centre staff are fully qualified in all outdoor activities that they lead, Bristol city council regulate and check their qualifications.

Stream Study: Assessing the impact of environmental disaster upon a stream

Canoeing: Water usage, conflicts of interest and features of a lake both natural and man made.

Problem solving: Learning to work together as a team

Climbing Challenge or Zip Wire Challenge Children will be given the chance to experience climbing and abseiling with specialised instructors

Medicines All medicines must be clearly labelled with Child’s name and instructions. Your child will be responsible for their own inhalers which they must carry with them. Please provide a spare one for our medicine box. Travel sickness tablets for the journey home must be clearly labelled with name and instructions. Please give all medicines to Mr Green the MONDAY before we depart. Medicines will only be given by administered by Mr Green or other teaching staff. Calpol or Children’s Neurofen will be given to your child in the case of illness, please ensure you have signed to consent form. You will be notified straight away if your child becomes ill or has an accident. If your child has to take medication nearer the time, then fill in a form.

Food All meals take place in the main dining hall and are eaten altogether. All meals are cooked on site at the centre. Please ensure we are aware of any dietary requirements.

Evening activities During the evenings children can play in the common room or games room. Games room has table tennis and table football, this is the noisy activity room! Common room is for quiet relaxation, we provide quiet activities and games to play. We also have a ‘film’ night with cocoa and biscuits!

Supervision Children are supervised at all times. During the activity sessions they will be in a group with a designated adult. If it is a centre led activity, (climbing or canoeing) staff from the centre will lead the session but the designated St Michaels adult will also be with them. At night the centre doors are locked and secure.

Clothing: What to bring You have been provided with a kit list. Please make sure your child has lots of socks and dry, comfy clothing (jogging bottoms, fleeces, socks, socks, socks, socks and loads more socks!!!) The centre will provide everything for outdoors; Waterproofs Wellies Old trainers

Valuables and home contact Please do not allow your child to bring valuables with them (I pods, mobile phones, game-boys etc) These items are not insured by school, risk becoming lost or broken and children will not have time to use them! You will be provided with a 24 hour contact number to the centre for emergency use only. Staff feel that camp provides opportunities for children to become increasingly independent, with that in mind, children will not be given the opportunity to ring home.

Any questions?
