Prosocial / Cross Cultural Essay Practice!!!

In groups of THREE, you job is to construct the body of an essay which supports the thesis statement provided. We will be looking deeply at two VERY DIFFERENT APPROACHES to this question based on the command terms EXPLAIN (narrative approach with subsequent evaluation of research to show critical thinking) EXAMINE (Critical thinking approach to truly understand the inherent assumption of the quesiton)

STEP 1: Create a shared document between the three of you Copy THIS INFORMATION to your document QUESTION: EXPLAIN CROSS CULTURAL DIFFERENCES IN PROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR THESIS: Differences in prosocial behavior can exist due to race, environmental stimulation, and child rearing, however, the research into these factors should be evaluated for their merit due to the abstract nature of prosocial behavior as a universal concept that is measurable across cultures. DECIDE whether you are person ONE, TWO or THREE in your group

STEP 2: Divide the Research Studies / Factors to construct a single paragraph on your shared document PERSON ONE should explore the factor of Race using the study “Wenger and Crano” – Develop a paragraph which EXPLAINS this factor as one which influences prosocial behavior across cultures and can be EVALUATED for its ability to accurately MEASURE this concept across the cultures presented. PERSON TWO should explore the factor of Environmental Stimulation in ‘The Urban Overlord Hypothesis” using the study “Miligram (1970)” – Develop a paragraph which EXPLAINS this factor as one which influences prosocial behavior across cultures and can be EVALUATED for its ability to accurately MEASURE this concept across the cultures presented. PERSON THREE should explore the factor of “Child Rearing” using the study “Whiting and Whiting (1975)” – Develop a paragraph which EXPLAINS this factor as one which influences prosocial behavior across cultures and can be EVALUATED for its ability to accurately MEASURE this concept across the cultures presented. NOTE: Be sure to organize your work in order and support of the thesis statement

STEP THREE - Copy THIS INFORMATION to your document QUESTION: EXAMINE CROSS CULTURAL DIFFERENCES IN PROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR THESIS: Assuming that differences in prosocial behavior exist and are due to culture; construct validity, emic and etic approaches, and the nomothetic view of psychological research should be taken into account. Again, remember that you are a ONE, TWO or THREE in your group

STEP 2: Divide the CONCEPTS to construct a single paragraph on your shared document PERSON ONE should explore the factor of CONSTRUCT VALIDITY using the study “at least two of the studies” – Develop a paragraph which EXAMINES this concept as one which forms our assumptions regarding the topic of cross cultural research into prosocial behavior. PERSON TWO should explore the factor of CONSTRUCT VALIDITY using the study “at least two of the studies” – Develop a paragraph which EXAMINES this concept as one which forms our assumptions regarding the topic of cross cultural research into prosocial behavior. PERSON THREE should explore the factor of CONSTRUCT VALIDITY using the study “at least two of the studies” – Develop a paragraph which EXAMINES this concept as one which forms our assumptions regarding the topic of cross cultural research into prosocial behavior. NOTE: YOU MAY INCLUDE LEVINE’S RESEARCH IN YOUR WORK IN THIS PARAGRAPH NOTE #2: Be sure to organize your work in order and support of the thesis statement
