Academic Programs and Graduate Studies Budget Plan for 2010-11 Mission The Office of Academic Programs and Graduate Studies is committed to upholding quality as it provides administrative leadership to implement policies for academic programs in service to the University's community of faculty, students and staff. Specifically, APGS provides administrative vision and direction, advocacy, and support services for programs that reach across academic boundaries: graduate education, the undergraduate general education program, interdisciplinary programs, community college partnerships, and university-wide testing. Diversity Commitment The Division Academic Programs and Graduate Studies supports the development of a diverse and inclusive university community by promoting diversity and social justice in the curriculum. The Office of Academic Programs and Graduate Studies includes a number of related areas of responsibility including: - APGS Student Services Office - Articulation - University Catalog - Curriculum and Academic Policies - General Education Office and Freshman Year Experience - Program for Accelerated College Education (PACE) - Graduate Programs - Interdisciplinary Studies Major and Special Certificate (undergraduate and graduate) - Student Fairness - Testing Office - University Honors Program - University Thesis Budget adjustments in APGS include changes and cost-saving measures including: - Conversion of 1 MPP position to 0.5 faculty member on assigned time; - Non-replacement of 2.5 staff positions lost via attrition; - Reductions in catalog printing; - Reductions in OE&E including reduced printing costs of graduate publications and reductions in graduate outreach events; - Movement of PACE advising to AACE with subsequent cost reductions; - Movement of Multimedia graduate program to CLASS.
