Implementation of COP in Dong Nai – Achievements and Difficulties

Achievements Criteria to monitor the compliance of livestock breeding facilities The approval for new livestock breeding facilities had to follow the COP COP is compulsory while applying for EIA/Environmental Protection Commitments (EPCs) appraisal

Difficulties Environmental standards in COP is high which the breeding facilities can not follow Lack of space for application of simple technology (biogas, biological pond). The application of advanced technologies require high investment Construction side: The facilities can not meet the criteria of distance to resident areas, especially small size unit Small size facilities can not invest for treatment facilities

Proposal Adjust the COP to fit with the current situations Master plan for centralized livestock production should be developed Awareness Raising and technical training on livestock waste treatment technology
