STRESS What is it?

A stress quiz Q: When you think about the state of the world... the wars, the hunger, the suffering, the injustices... you feel extremely sad.  Very True  Somewhat True  False Q: You just can't watch the news, it is way too depressing! Q: At school you feel overwhelmed by the social pressures of fitting in. Q: At school you feel burdened by the academic workload. Q: At school you often feel like you don't fit in with your peers.    Q: At school you feel like you can do nothing right.

Q: With your parents you feel like you can do nothing right.  Very True  Somewhat True  False Q: When your parents ask you how things are going at school you feel tense and don't want to talk about it. Even if nothing is going on at school you dodge the topic every time. Q: When your parents ask you how things are going with your friends you feel tense and don't want to talk about it. Even if nothing is going on with your friends you dodge the topic every time. Q: If there is something you feel is missing from your life, like a good friend, a Saturday job or good school grades, you fixate on that thing and don't seem able to appreciate all the things you actually have to be grateful for. Q: You are more likely to cry out of frustration or anger than out of sadness. Q: You cry often, more than once a month, and not in reaction to a major trauma like a death or break up. Q: There have been times when you have flown off the handle and become very upset or angry and then later regretted your behaviour.

Q: You never seem satisfied with your life and are always thinking of how it could be improved upon.  Very True  Somewhat True  False Q: Whenever you accomplish something you can't seem to take the time to enjoy your success, you're already setting a new and higher goal. Q: The hardest thing about being in a relationship is the fear of getting hurt. Q: Friends can turn on you quickly so you should never give them 100% of your trust. Q: In the end the only person you can ever count on is you! Calculate the number of false, somewhat true or very true answers. False:………. Somewhat true:………….. Very true:……………. Add the somewhat true and very true scores. Somewhat true + Very true = …………………….. This is your total to use on the table at the end to see if stress is getting the better of you

Score for somewhat and very trues added together Now answer this final question: Q: You get really annoyed and frustrated when you are told there will be 20 questions and actually there are only 18.  Very True  Somewhat True  False How do you feel now? Score for somewhat and very trues added together What it says about you and stress 0-7 You're cool, calm and collected. Nothing ruffles your feathers and stressed out is just not in your vocabulary. Good for you! Consider yourself lucky and just chill, after all it's what you do best. 8-12 For the most part you're cool, calm and collected. Not much ruffles your feathers. If something does get under your skin there is usually good reason and you rarely fly of the handle without cause. That's great. You know how to keep piece of mind but you don't live in denial. Keep doing what you do and stress will never get the best of you. 13-18 Stress is definitely starting to get to you and this is not healthy. When we feel stressed it is often because we feel out of control in some aspect of our lives and this leaves us feeling overwhelmed and discontented. To combat the damaging effects of stress make sure you have an outlet like exercise or art and worry less about gaining control of the situation and more about gaining control of your reations. We can't control the world. We can't control other people. We can control how we react to those around us and in doing this we can beat stress. Good luck!

What is Stress On your own do the quiz In pairs: Can you think of any time when you have been stressed or anxious? How did you feel? How did you handle it? Any one like to volunteer any of your answer for the Form? …
