2-Point Perspective Mini Lesson #5

Warm Up: Day One At the top of your paper, write “2 Point Perspective.” Divide your paper into three sections, so it looks like this:

Warm Up Continued... On the bottom half of your page, write the following: Linear perspective-- Artists use orthogonal, vertical, and horizontal lines to figure out the size and shape of geometric objects. 2 point perspective-- Type of perspective where lines radiate from two different vanishing points.

Today’s lesson 1. Today, we will practice drawing shapes and letters in 2-Point perspective. 2. We will be doing a LOT of erasing! Two Point Perspective Tutorial 3. Now… Let’s make it even more challenging! Drawing Letters Using Two Point Perspective

Day 2: Warm Up Underneath, write: In the upper left corner of your notes, write “M.C. Escher (1898- 1972).” Underneath, write: He was an artist during the __________________ century. He is one of the world’s most famous GRAPHIC ARTISTS. He manipulated perspective to create strange and fantastic images. The Mathematical Art of M.C. Escher

Upstairs and Downstairs

Today’s Assignment Today, you will continue practicing 2 Point Perspective. In your notebooks, complete at least 2 of the practices on the handouts at the table. You may experiment with other ideas (i.e. try other letters or combinations of shapes. If finished, you will also turn in your “Falling into Perspective” drawings to Google Classroom.

Clean Up Everyone: Tidy your personal items. If you have submitted a photo of your perspective drawing to Google Classroom, you may take your work with you. Papers: Make sure handouts are stacked, paper clipped, and at the end of the table. Trash: Ask if anyone needs to throw away trash. Make a loop with the trash can if needed.

Day 3: Warm Up Quick warm up review! In the upper-right box, draw a box using two point perspective. Review the steps as a class:

Today’s Activity Today, we will complete our final practice using Two Point Perspective. On a sheet of blank paper turned landscape, draw a long box that divides the horizon line. Make sure that it fills a large portion of the page. Draw a sign on the right side of the box. Draw at least three letters on the sign. Draw a door and window on the left side. Add one more architectural detail--i.e. Bricks, a chimney, etc. Your choice! If you were not able to yesterday, turn in your Falling into Perspective drawing to Google Classroom.

Clean Up Everyone: Tidy your personal items. If you have submitted a photo of your perspective drawing to Google Classroom, you may take your work with you. Papers: Make sure your drawings are stacked at the end of the table. Keepers: Stack the Chromebooks at the end of the table. Trash: Ask if anyone needs to throw away trash. Make a loop with the trash can if needed.
