Volume 36, Issue 1, Pages 93-96 (January 2015) Drug transporter expression during in vitro differentiation of first-trimester and term human villous trophoblasts  P. Berveiller, S.A. Degrelle, N. Segond, H. Cohen, D. Evain-Brion, S. Gil  Placenta  Volume 36, Issue 1, Pages 93-96 (January 2015) DOI: 10.1016/j.placenta.2014.11.001 Copyright © 2014 Elsevier Ltd Terms and Conditions

Fig. 1 Clustering analysis (HCL and K-means). The analysis was performed using TIGR MeV 4.8.1 MultiExperiment Viewer software (http://www.tm4.org/mev.html). Each column represents the expression levels of all of the genes tested in a condition whereas each row represents the expression levels of a particular gene between CT and ST in first-trimester (T1) and term placentas (T3). The expression level of any given gene in any given condition is reported along a color scale in which yellow represents transcriptional upregulation, blue represents down-regulation, and the color intensity indicates the magnitude of deviation from the mean. Finally, cluster analysis of expression profiles reveals 7 predominant expression patterns. Fig. 2 Significant differences in up/down-regulated drug transporter genes, between CT and ST, in first-trimester (black bars) and term placentas (gray bars). The data are expressed as the relative mean ± S.D. of values obtained from four different experiments. Statistical analysis was performed using a two-way ANOVA. * difference due to the trophoblast differentiation (CT/ST), #difference due to the gestational age of placenta (T1/T3), § interaction trophoblast differentiation (CT/ST), *gestational age of placenta (T1/T3). *, #, §p < 0.05, **, ##p < 0.01, ***, ###p < 0.001, ****, ####p < 0.0001.
