2016-2017 Student Angler Organization Hudson bass club 2016-2017 Student Angler Organization

Who are we? Hudson Bass Club was founded in 2014 as a student organization for those interested in competitive bass fishing at the high school level. Students in grades 7-8 are allowed to participate with students in grades 9-12 for most ‘high school’ events. Hudson Bass Club allows students in grades 7-12. While Hudson Bass Club is ‘school sponsored’, the organization is NOT ‘school funded.’ Membership for Hudson Bass Club is $25 per student (TBF or BASS) Hudson Bass Club does solicit donations from local businesses to participate and help off-set the costs that would be passed along to the students.

Southeast texas hs fishing assoc. Hudson Bass Club is a member of Southeast Texas High School Fishing Association, also known as SETX. SETX is an organized club consisting of about 46 participating school districts in East Texas, Southeast Texas, and West Louisiana. There are about 500 teams, or nearly 1000 students, that participate. The average number of teams participating in an event is about 430. The 2016-2017 SETX tournament schedule is as follows: January 14 Lake Livingston February 4 Sam Rayburn (Umphrey Pavilion) February 25 Sam Rayburn (Cassel Boykin) March 18 Sam Rayburn (Umphrey Pavilion) April 8 Sabine River (Orange TX) May 6&7 Sam Rayburn Championship (Umphrey Pavilion)

SETx participation criteria The school must have a club in good standing with current membership. Membership fees are $50 per student annually (new for this year; paid to school) Tournament fees are $40 per team per event Students must be in good academic and behavioral standing; UIL No-Pass-No-Play in effect; behavior determined by club advisers All forms must be submitted in a timely fashion Student teams must be determined ASAP and remain consistent to maintain AOY points

Deep East Texas High School Fishing This series is open to all high school fishing teams who become members in good standing to compete for prizes, educational awards and qualifying opportunities for series, regional and national high school championships. 2016-2017 Tournament Schedule September 24 Stanley Frog Fight October 22 DETX Opening Qualifier November 26 2nd DETX Qualifier December 17 3rd DETX Qualifier January 7 4th DETX Qualifier February 18 5th DETX Qualifier and Sweet Six Invitational March 18 Gold Star Kids/DETX 6th Qualifier April 1 7th DETX Qualifier (Toledo Bend) May 13&14 DETX Championship DETX Qualifying events held at Jackson Hill Marina, Sam Rayburn

Deep East texas fishing criteria Membership fees are $25 per angler annually (paid directly from student) Tournament fees are $40 per team per event Students must be in good academic standing; UIL No-Pass-No-Play Teams must be established by 3rd tournament

General information Anglers must (should) find a partner for the entire season Anglers must find a boat captain(s) to partner with Boat captains must meet the requirements of the organization hosting the tournament Boat captains must pass the background check/criminal history check conducted by the school Anglers must fish from a boat meeting the criteria of the hosting organization The boat used must have, at a minimum, liability insurance Students are NOT required to fish all tournaments; there may be a conflict with other school events While the organization encourages angler development/learning, tournaments are highly competitive events Scholarship/savings accounts Jersey Information

General operating procedures For Deep East Texas High School Fishing This is a more relaxed organization that requires more student involvement to participate Students submit membership, register themselves for the tournaments, and are under less control of school advisers Any earnings are made payable to the school or the boat captain

General operating procedures FOR SETX Hudson Bass Club host meeting two weeks prior to tournament to review any new information, host guest speakers, and submit all registration payments and information Dead-Water rule in effect from Sunday-Thursday prior to tournament Club advisers generally pick up boat cards required of all teams and meet at a given time and location. This saves all teams from having to drive 50 miles. This is a kind gesture of the advisers, not a requirement. Therefore, we very much appreciate everyone being on time as scheduled. Generally, anglers may launch at any ramp on the lake with a specific time to begin and end fishing. Then students have a set amount of time, usually one hour, to be present and checked in at the weigh-in site. All teams must check in! (discussion item) Students may be selected for door prizes. Any team placing ‘in the money’ should remain at the site until closing Any earnings will be made payable directly to the student (new for this year; discussion)
