Kindergarten Class Newsletter Week of : Oct. 23 -27, 2017 Mrs. Haraway and Mrs. Thompson’s Kindergarten Class Homework: Please read with your child 10-20 minutes each night and record the time spent and the title of the book/s on that day in their agenda. Please also initial each day, letting us know that you have seen their behavior and any notes that were written for you to see. This is one of the most important ways of communication.  Homework focus this week is a review of math. Sight words are tested each Friday, so please continue to practice each night as well, to ensure your child’s growth in the area of reading. Thank you for your support in making your child’s school career begin with a great start. It’s surely a team effort and we can’t thank you enough!  This Week: Phonics: letter L, how it is formed and the sound it makes, cvc words Writing: narrative writing (story) Reading: retelling a story/details from a book Math: Counting and Cardinality/One-to-one correspondence with objects, writing numerals, introduction to teen numbers Science: plants/pumpkins Social Studies: American Symbols Important Reminders & Dates: Ice cream: costs $1 and is only available to Kinders on Fridays. Lunch: 10:33-11:03 AM P.E.: Please remind your child to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days. (Please refer to the schedule on the back of your child’s binder) If you have not made the first Field Trip/Kindergarten Donation payment, please do so as soon as possible. ( $25 OR full $50 ) Thanks!  Our Conference Day was on Oct. 17. If you did not sign up or missed your conference that day, please contact me so that we can set one up soon. Thank you! Oct. 27: Southern Belle Farm Field Trip! Field trip shirts will be handed out to the children at school on Friday. Please have them wear a t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes that day.
