CREATIVE WRITING: TASK CHARACTER ANALYSIS On your exam, you’re going to have to tell me about a character you’ve read about before (either from Journeys SC, Journeys HC, or Danny the Champion of the World). A character analysis answers the questions: Who are they? How are they? (What are they like?) Why are they like this? A character analysis tells you all kinds of information about the person you are talking about; it’s not simply basic information, but a close look at someone. It can be hard sometimes to find enough information to make your paragraphs long enough, so use the questions above to try and make sentences.

CREATIVE WRITING: TASK CHARACTER ANALYSIS You are going to write about Dr. Eugenie Clark from “Dr. Clark’s Sharks”. First you need to think of character traits. These are adjectives that describe: how they act, how they feel, or how you feel about them. Examples include: funny, boring, disorganized, impatient, rude, lonely, unintelligent. (And of course, the opposites of these are also okay) Be careful, because if you choose these traits you have to be able to explain why you think this using examples from the story.

CREATIVE WRITING: TASK CHARACTER ANALYSIS Like most of our writing this term, you need to make a chart: CHARACTER: TRAIT 1 TRAIT 2 TRAIT 3 WHY do you think they have this trait? HOW do you know? (examples)

CREATIVE WRITING CHARACTER ANALYSIS Here is your essay plan: Introduction (tell us what you’re writing about and WHO the character is: name, job, home, etc.) Paragraph 1 (introduce the first trait; say WHY you think this trait is true, use EXAMPLES) Paragraph 2 (introduce second trait: say WHY you think this trait is true, use EXAMPLES) Paragraph 3 (introduce third trait; say WHY you think this trait is true, use EXAMPLES) Conclusion (SUMMARIZE the traits, and remind us of their information)
