Engineering Profile 914 positions FY 2017-18 Operating Budget of $166 million 480 current active projects, totaling $3.6 billion 60 new hires in 2016-2017/ 47 percent female This is great news. The recession is over and we’ve been hiring. We’re almost at 1000 people!

Cleanwater Infrastructure Program   October 2017 to June 2022 Will start design on 120 projects totaling $1.2 billion Will start construction on 240 projects totaling $1.8 billion

Mobility Program October 2017 to June 2022   October 2017 to June 2022 Will start design on 50 projects totaling $300 million Will start construction on 125 projects totaling $500 million

Public Buildings and Open Space Program October 2017 to June 2022 Will start design on 50 projects totaling $1 billion Will start construction on 140 projects totaling $1.6 billion

Permits In 2016/17 we served 68,000 customers at our public counters This is a 18% increase from 2015/16 In 2016/17 we issued13,417 utility permits Issued new Trench Standards Plan (S-477) Transitioning to Electronic Workflow and Plan Check for B Permits by end of 2018 Look at these numbers! We’ve served 68,000 customer at our public counters. That is an 18 percent increase from the year before with no sign of slowing down This is clear evidence of how much work is happening in the city of LA

Upcoming Projects – Public Buildings/ Open Space Hollywood Gymnasium 12,000 sf gym. $11 million construction cost. Starting design in the next 12 months. Peck Park Pool and Bathhouse 7,000 sf Pool and 3,000 sf bathhouse. $11 million construction cost. Pacific Coast Highway Pedestrian Bridge 100 foot long pedestrian bridge over PCH. $8 million construction cost. Starting design in the next 24 months.  We want to give you an idea of some of the projects coming up

Upcoming Projects - Mobility Program 7th Street Streetscape Project Improvements along 7th Street in downtown LA to improve biking, walking connections and transit experience. $5 million construction cost. Design RFP will go out in Fall 2017. Asilomar Blvd Landslide Mitigation New retaining structure and slope remediation. $16 million construction cost. Construction will start in 24 months. Construction Management opportunity. Potrero Canyon Park - Final Grading and Landscaping Canyon grading and development of nature preserve. $20 million construction cost. In design. Construction will start in April 2018. Construction Management opportunity.

Upcoming Projects – Cleanwater Infrastructure Ballona/Sepulveda Creek Water Quality Improvements Construction of a low flow treatment facility (LFTF-1) for Ballona Creek at North Outfall Treatment Facility. $35 million construction cost. Design/Build starts January 2018. Donald C. Tillman (DCT) Water Reclamation Plant Maintenance Facility Move current maintenance facilities at to make room for new project. $26 million construction cost. Design starts December 2017.  Donald C. Tillman (DCT) Water Reclamation Plant Advanced Water Purification Facility Construction of a new Advanced Water Purification Facility. $370 million. Design starts March 2018.

Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project $482 million Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project Construction will be completed end of 2020 Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project is the largest bridge project in the history of LA We are starting to see the project come up above ground We’re finalizing the design this month of the 12 acre park we are going to build under the viaduct.

Complete Streets Program   Integrated delivery philosophy with Engineering as Program Manager Cost effective and least disruptive delivery of street reconstruction incorporating Vision Zero and sustainable green street elements On-going future year funding from:  SB1 - Gas Tax, Measure R and Measure M  FY 17/18  Proposed Construction Budget $ 37 million ​FY 18/19  Proposed Construction Budget $ 53 million Measure M alone is estimated to generate $120 billion over 40 years Local return portion of a full year of receipts is estimated at $59 million

LA River Revitalization City bought 42-acre G2 parcel at Taylor Yard this Spring. Design will start October 2017. Engineering is working with the US Army Corps of Engineers to begin design of the first elements of implementation of the Recommended Plan of the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study. The first phase is a habitat terrace in the Downtown LA urban core. After a 4.5-year design, expected to cost $8.1 million, the City will enter into a construction agreement to build the habitat terrace.

What is Next for LA? Olympics – EOC and City signed agreement today to host 2028 Summer Olympics in LA! We are looking at doing an above ground bond program; likely Fire Bond 1st to 4th Development LA is working on a rebranding project so stayed tuned for new merchandising logo and many other great items We are leading the effort to redesign street elements to make the City more livable.
