Fig. 2 Estimated excess risk and 95% confidence interval of second primary lung cancer according to estimated radiation dose (Gray (Gy)), among patients diagnosed with a second lung cancer five or more years after breast cancer treatment. The value of the solid line was calculated from individual dose estimation among 105 control and 307 cases with dose used as a continuous variable, based on a linear dose–response relationship. Cases and controls were matched according to age at breast cancer diagnosis, year of breast cancer (±5years) treatment and cancer free survival for at least as long as the index case. The dots are the risk estimates according to the dose categories <1, 1–4, 5–14, 15–24 and ⩾25Gy, respectively adjusted for smoking status and systemic adjuvant treatment.
