Philippians 2:1-7

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate?

Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

This is why we read about Jesus growing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52).

Empathy

HEBREWS 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.

16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

HEBREWS 5:7-8 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.

Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered.  

Example

HEBREWS 2:18 “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”

“If you want to know how to live victoriously, you should turn to the One who was tempted like we are but did not sin.”  

Eternity 

Applying All of this to Our Celebration of Christmas!!

The follower of Jesus is to look out for others. 

In our relationships with one another, how can we have the attitude of Christ?

What might happen if Christians stopped demanding their rights and started obeying God’s will?
