OBJ: Given video, notes, activity sheet SWBAT explain the structures/functions of the Excretory System and how kidneys filter liquid waste with 70% accuracy.
THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM. Function Removes waste products from the blood Cells produce wastes which move out of the cells and into the blood by diffusion.
Excretory System Notes. Functions 1. Collect water and filter body fluids. 2. Remove and concentrate waste products from body fluids and return other.
The Urinary System (Excretory System) Aim: How can we describe the functions of the Urinary System?
Excretory System. Respiration Waste When respiration occurs, your body breaks down oxygen and glucose. The waste products are carbon dioxide and water.
The Human Excretory System The function of the excretory system is to excrete (get rid of) wastes that are not helpful to the body.

Excretory System

Function Removes wastes from the body

Structures Involves 4 body systems Digestive System- large intestine removes solid wastes Respiratory System- lungs(alveoli) removes gaseous wastes

Integumentary System- sweat glands remove liquid wastes Urinary System- kidneys remove liquid wastes

Urinary System

Function Filters waste material out of the blood Regulates blood pressure and levels of water, salts, and minerals in the body

Structures kidneys- two organs found on either side of the spine which contain nephrons- tiny filtering structures that clean wastes (urea, salts, water) from blood

ureters- tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder bladder- muscular sac that holds urine urethra- tube that connects bladder to outside the body
