REVIEW BOOKLET Students should all have a copy of this booklet. They must know all the diagrams. Worksheets for the diagrams were already covered in class. Attached worksheets for review are also on this webpage.

Diagram 1: Plane Mirror

Images in a Plane Mirror are always Virtual. Diagram 2: Plane Mirror – Reflected Image Images in a Plane Mirror are always Virtual.

Object Mirror Image A B C Diagram 3: Plane Mirror: Virtual Image distance. Object Mirror Image A B C The distance from the Object (ie. the candle) to the Mirror is equal to the distance from the Mirror to the Image of the Candle. (A to B) = ( B to C )

The distance from “ V ” (Vertex) to “ F ” is called the focal length. Diagram 4: Concave Mirror The distance from “ V ” (Vertex) to “ F ” is called the focal length.

Objects in a Concave Mirror are always Real. Unless it’s inside of “F” Diagram 5: Object at the Center of Curvature or “C” Objects in a Concave Mirror are always Real. Unless it’s inside of “F”

Diagram 6: Object outside of the Center of Curvature When the object is outside “C” the reflected image is always between “C” and “F”

When the object is between “C” and “F” the image is always outside “C” Diagram 7: Image between “C” and “F” - Between Center of Curvature and the Focus When the object is between “C” and “F” the image is always outside “C”

When the object is at “F” there is NO IMAGE! Diagram 8: Object at the center of Focus or at “F” When the object is at “F” there is NO IMAGE!

Diagram 9 : Refraction of light.
