Simile A simile makes a comparison using the word “like” or “as.” It makes an obvious comparison. Examples: The student moved slowly like a slug. The teacher was as handsome as a movie star.
Metaphor A metaphor is like a simile, only it does not use “like” or “as.” It makes a comparison between two things Eg. Tom is a star in the class. Her eyes were shining diamonds.
