ROADS FOR WATER FOR RESILIENCE PROGRAME KENYA VISION 2020 WHERE WE WANT TO BE To have incoporated all water harvesting components in our Agriculture and roads programme . Main stream water harvesting programmes with all concerned departments (water,roads,environment,administration,irrigation,agriculture) Mobilized all the communities to participate in watershed conservation and road water harvesting.

IMMEDIATE ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTATION Based on Ethiopia training form a Road Water alliance for Kenya. The alliance to sensitise the top leaders(Governors,ministers,departmental heads and technical staff) on water conservation and harvesting. Call up forum for key stakeholder(local leaders,Ngos,Community development commitees, Faith based orgnisations , Univertsities etc)- for sensitization.

Policy, guidelines and budget Draft policy paper on water conservation and road water harvesting for consideration by the national and County cabinets and approval by the national and county assemblies Form a secretariate for technical officers to draft guidelines for water conservation and road water harvesting Lobby for budget inclusion for road water harvesting in ( Agriculture, roads, water) Departments.

CAPACITY BUILDING Organize a regional conference for arid and semi arid counties to storm on water conservation and road water harvesting. Organise training workshops to train technical staff in all relevant departments. Organise forums at village levels to sensitise on water conservation and road water harvesting. Organise field excurtions to areas where roads water harvesting has been tried and is successful(sand dam/drifts)

ON GOINING PROJECTS Introduce water harvesting structures on all water and roads on going projects. Hold public participation forums when commencing all projects and sensitive on the creation and use of water generated from roads and river water structures(Sand dams/drifts).

Country steps From July 2017, all the three counties (Kitui, Makueni Machakos) to incorporate water conservation and road water harvesting in their annual progammes The Governors to initiate the programme in each county.
