Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Morano’s Pre-K News Week of October 30, 2017 This week’s theme: Things families do together for fun. Math ELA In math this week we created number stories using manipulatives and practiced subtracting up to four items. Our trade book for the week was Antonio’s Birthday Fiesta by Maria Mola. The story centered around the family preparing for two very special birthdays and the fun times they shared together. Our vocabulary words for the week were: guest, music, party, picnic, playground, trip . We also had a lot of fun reading and retelling the story Go Away Big Green Monster by Ed Emberley. Handwriting Our letter of the week is letter U. We have been practicing writing the letter U as well as thinking of words that start with the /u/ sound Science We read our Scholastic Newsletter about Leaves and reviewed what we have learned so far about Fall. Social Studies We discussed how our lives are organized around time. We talked about how we have breakfast in the morning and go to school. Our school day is organized around time on a schedule so we can be sure to get everything done and still have time for lunch and fun things. In the evening, we have dinner, spend time with our family, etc. Religion . News & Reminders Next Wednesday, November 8th is our Walk-a-thon. Thursday, November 9th students do not have school. The faculty will be participating in a Professional Development Day. In Religion the children learned that Halloween is related to a celebration of all the saints. We read about Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and how she tried to help people. The children learned that Halloween is the night before the Feast of All Saints. They are encouraged to let their light shine by doing good deeds like Jesus would want us to. We made St. Gregory puppets to celebrate all Saints Day. .
