Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirements… 4 English credits – English 1,2,3, and 4 4 Math credits – including Algebra I and Geometry 3 Science credits – including Biology & a Physical Science 3 Social Studies credits – including World History, American History, Government/Economics 1 Performing/Fine Arts credit ½ credit PE/ ½ credit Personal Fitness 8 elective credits

Graduation Requirements… 2.0 overall G.P.A. – GPA’s do not round up Pass English Language Arts FSA Pass Algebra 1 EOC Take one online class 2 credits of the same Foreign Language are required for college entrance and bright futures scholarships

How do they make up a credit(s) for graduation? APEX lab – either during the school day or after school ULearning – the old ELearning Florida Virtual School – www.flvs.net Counselors will be reviewing your credits with your student to make sure they have everything they need to graduate. Parent are welcome to e-mail their student’s counselor to arrange a meeting.

Bright Futures – Florida Academic Scholars Award… Full tuition scholarship plus $300/semester for books 3.5 weighted GPA based on 16 core classes including: 4 English, 4 Math, 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 2 Foreign Language 1290 SAT - Reading and Math combined 29 ACT composite 100 hours community service

Bright Futures – Florida Medallion Award… $77 per semester hour/ up to 120 hours 3.0 weighted GPA based on 16 core classes 1170 SAT combined Reading and Math 26 ACT composite 75 hours of community service

Bright Futures – Gold Seal… The Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV) can only be used to fund a career education or certificate program. Graduate from high school with a Standard Diploma (high school graduation requirements); Achieve the required weighted minimum 3.0 GPA in the non-elective high school courses; Take at least 3 full credits in a single Career and Technical Education program; Achieve the required minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA in the career education courses; ACT/ SAT/ PERT scores Complete 30 service hours.

Applying for bright futures… Seniors must complete the Bright Futures application online at www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org before high school graduation. Application is available now. Seniors can see their counselor if they need assistance. Community service hours must be turned in by May 1st for Bright Futures SAT and ACT can be taken through June, 2018 to qualify for Bright Futures

Financial Aid… Complete FAFSA as soon as possible – opened October 1, 2017 www.fafsa.ed.gov – this is how students apply for grants, loans, work-study programs, etc. Once you have decided on which university to attend, meet with a representative from the financial aid office
