Beyond Exploring Pastor Dave Jansen November 5, 2017 Series: Stepping Up

Where are you right now?

How do you move beyond Exploring?

Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

1. Look at Him!

Look! I stand at the door and knock. Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

A. Open yourself up to the possibility that there are no coincidences.

We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps… We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall. Proverbs 16:9,33 (NLT)

B. Test your assumptions about the Bible and Jesus.

Do not stifle the Holy Spirit Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. 1Thessalonians 5:19-21 (NLT)

Unless you believe that I AM who I claim to be, you will die in your sins. John 8:24 (NLT)

C. Separate Christ from Christians.

2. Listen to Him!

Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door… Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

John 10:3-5, 10-11 (NLT) The sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger, they… (cont’d) John 10:3-5, 10-11 (NLT)

…will run from him because they don’t know his voice…The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. John 10:3-5, 10-11 (NLT)

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life John 10:27-28 (NLT)

3. Let Him in!

Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

Luke 19:2-6 (NLT) There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going… (cont’d) Luke 19:2-6 (NLT)

Luke 19:2-6 (NLT) …to pass that way. When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. Luke 19:2-6 (NLT)

Trust Jesus for God’s forgiveness and trust him to lead your life.

Trust Jesus for God’s forgiveness and trust That starts with a prayer him to lead your life. That starts with a prayer of faith where you say…

1. I’m sorry for the wrong choices I’ve made

1. I’m sorry for the wrong choices I’ve made 2. I believe that you died and rose again to give me God’s grace

1. I’m sorry for the wrong choices I’ve made 2. I believe that you died and rose again to give me God’s grace 3. I accept your leadership of my life going forward
