Hunting, Music and pottery Inca Achievements Hunting, Music and pottery

HUNTING BY THE INCA The Sapa Inca owned all land. He had to give permission for anyone else to hunt Peasants only hunted during special festivals King and nobles hunted in large hunting parties Hunters captured animals using bolas, weapon with three leather cords and stone at end of each cord

Inca music Used mainly in religious and social rituals and ceremonies Instruments included clay and animal skin drums, different length flutes, and shell trumpets Inca music was slow, repetitive and formal (not lively) The government employed poets to travel from place to place to sing about empire news and events. No original Inca music exists today because the Spanish outlawed it after the empire was conquered.

Inca pottery Most pottery was useful, but less artistic than others conquered by the Inca. For example: Chimu pottery consisted of a dark-iron grey color that glowed like silver. The pottery was both more imaginative and realistic. These were used for nobility. Pottery was hand built using coils and molds. Six standard patterns used to decorate for the emperor, but the individual villages had their own patterns. Pottery were creamed colored with red, black and white geometric designs.
