Mock Exam Photography

People and their Environment mock exam Dear Photography student, You have been working on your second project People and their Environment, you are now going to spend the next few weeks exploring some other photographers and ideas that will help you develop a final piece or pieces.

Weeks 1-2 You will look at the work of the following photographers Bettina La Plante(aging images), Saul Leiter, Cindy Sherman, Mary Ellen Mark and Duane Michals, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, Sandy Skoglund, Bob Heinecken, Julian Opie, Mark Klett. You will explore their image making process by researching and annotating images from 2-3 of the above photographers(set for HWK) You will create response to their work to test your initial ideas

Weeks 3-4 Developing your idea for final piece/pieces During this time you will plan your idea. It will be based on work that you have done so far. It can be a combination of styles and processes that you have explored over the project but must be unique to you. You can use layering, Hockney joiners, lighting, collage, merge and combine images together to create your work.

Your Exam Your exam will be 2 days, you will work on your idea that you have tested in Weeks 3-4. If this changes then any changes must be shown in your book. Your final idea could be a series of prints, could be 3D, a mobile(hanging on string)a tryptch(3 images together) You must write a final evaluation for your idea and do a step by step for every stage in its development.

Try to develop an idea that is independent and links to your research. You must have planning pages.

Make sure you include contact sheet and annotation, explain your ideas and thought processes.

Examples of good experimentation pages.

Display ideas- You could make your final piece interactive for the viewer.

You could hang your images in a creative way.

You could use geometric designs to fold or cut into your images creatively.

You could layer, weave or arrange your images to display them.

Think of different ways in which your work could be presented and displayed.

Think about using different materials to display your work on.

You could make a series of images which link together.

Try to make your experimentation as interesting as possible. Use your imagination to manipulate and blend images and ideas. Always aim to make your final piece stand out from the rest. Good Luck
