Presentation transcript:

Many thanks for your continued support, Miss Brown. Newsletter Reception Class 14th October 2016 Literacy This week we have read two chapters from Peter Pan. These have been ‘The Mermaids Lagoon’ and ‘Captain Hooks evil plan’. We have been learning about describing words and have thought of different words to describe Captain Hook and Peter Pan. Next week we will be reading to the end of the story. This week we have followed Peter Pan into the Mermaids Lagoon and have been looking at Captain Hooks deadly potions. We have been making our own Mermaids and have been brewing our own deadly potions in our classroom laboratory. Phonics This week we have learnt two new sounds and three new letters which are ‘c’, ‘k’ and ‘e’. We have been looking at their formations and have been finding different things around the classroom that start with these sounds. We also continued to practice reading cvc words. Additionally, we have now started writing some cvc words using the sounds that we have learnt. Maths This week we have been learning about repeating patterns. We have been making our own patterns in class by using two, three or even four different colours. Next week we will be concentration on length and will be ordering up to three items from the shortest to the tallest. Notices This weeks homework is sound ‘c’, ‘k’ and ‘e’ in your child’s sound book. Please can you continue to read with your child each night and please don’t forget read their Key Words. Many thanks for your continued support, Miss Brown.
