Phonics Screening
Year 1 Phonics Screening
Spellings
Spellings Once every two weeks on Friday your child will bring home a list of words – predominantly High frequency words or their focus sound in phonics. They will be tested in school in a random order and in the context of a sentence and then correct spellings will be highlighted on their list so that you can see how many were correct. A lot of the HFW cannot always be sounded out when spelling and therefore need to be recognised and learnt by sight.
Handwriting
Letter formation Our aim is that the children are correctly forming all letters by the end of Autumn term ready to begin joining in Spring term.
