Presentation transcript:

TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGY Ground transportation by road is one of the most important today as well as for freight and people, due to the great development of public and private vehicles (cars, trucks or buses). Its advantage is the flexibility it presents, it is not restricted to follow a fixed route as rail, but given the interconnection of the different axes can reach any place along the roads. The disadvantages presented the high cost of construction and maintenance of infrastructure roads, or congestion generated due to increased flows.

Maritime transport is focused at present largely in the transport of goods, leaving the reduced passenger pleasure trips or cruises and short distance transport made by ferry. The development of the merchant marine has been based on increasing the tonnage of vessels (capacity of the warehouse), specialization (ships used to transport a single product: oil tankers, reefer vessels, container ships, etc..) And some increase speed. These changes have been made to reduce the cost of transportation of goods. Moreover, the increase in maritime trade has resulted in the need for more space for storage, containers, industries associated with products transported by ship (refineries, petrochemical plants, etc..) So that the ports have grown considerably, moving away from the center of the port cities.
