Comparative Endings. What are comparative endings? They are endings for words when you compare two or more things – er est bigger biggest.
Comparatives/Superlatives Comparatives and superlatives are adjectives that show a comparison between objects.

2. Adjectives that compare

Add er to most adjectives to compare two nouns or pronouns Add er to most adjectives to compare two nouns or pronouns. Add est to most adjectives to compare more than two nouns or pronouns.

I can use adjectives that compare. Rule Example Most adjectives add er or est Short, Shorter, Shortest Adjectives that end with an “e” drop the final “e” and add “er” or “est” True, Truer, Truest Adjective that end with a consonant and “y” change the “y” to an “I” and add “es” or “est” Happy, Happier, Happiest Adjectives with one syllable that end with a single consonant, double the final consonant and add “er” or “est” Wet, wetter, wettest
