EDSS 511 Session 1 Understanding Yourself Objective: After completing survey - activities, candidates will be able to describe their learning profile for Introduction to class & Professional Website. 10 min SPONGE ACTIVITY 1. Find a partner near you. 2. Share what you will do today as a director. 10 min

Teaching is about RELATIONSHIPS The one who does the work does the learning. Same with relationships, you have to interact to build a relationship. One way to build relationships is to collaborate and work as a team. Directorships – think about how you can contribute to our community. Write down a couple ideas. Share your idea with a neighbor. Once you decide on a role, fill it in on the directory. 5 min +5 = 15 minutes

BEST CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT Keep students engaged. Plan lessons that are fun & interactive. If you do that 90% of your classroom management will take care of itself. If you struggle with classroom management, first consider how you can change the lessons. 5 min +5 = 20min
