Alcorn State University School of Arts and Sciences Seminar Series 2016-17 “African American Read-In” Coordinated by Dr. J. Janice Coleman, Professor Department of English, Languages and Mass Communications and Dr. Valtreasa Tolliver-Cook, Assistant Professor Department of Social Work February 23, 2017 at 12:30 PM. Math and Science Building Auditorium (Room 109) Note: The African American Read-In is part of the 2017 National African American Read-In which is sponsored by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the NCTE itself. Now in its 28th year, the Read-In celebrates the African American experience through reading of works authored by African Americans and aims to honor both the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and February as Black History Month. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to read short works—poems, speeches, or excerpts from short stories or novels—at this event.
