What were they really asking him? John 7:3 Who was planning to go? Some of his brethren, perhaps half-brothers, perhaps close relatives - felt that the festival presented an opportunity for Jesus to make a public declaration of his divine mission - (I don’t know where they’ve been for the last 2 1/2 years but he’s done that multiple times!!) But this time they are definitely “goading” him - “IF thou do these things, shew thyself to the world” v4 Jesus refuses to be goaded - rejects their suggestion John 7:3-5 What were they really asking him?

John 7:6-9 Goodbye to Galilee He would not return during his earthly life to this beautiful land of his childhood Jesus was leaving Galilee forever; his great Galilean ministry was ended.

John 7:6-9 Goodbye to Galilee How difficult it must have been with his own family members not believing him Jesus was leaving Galilee forever; his great Galilean ministry was ended. He would not return in his life. Can you imagine what he might be sad about - His family not believing, the hard hearts of those who would not listen

He had a little less than 6 months left of His earth life John 7:6-9 Goodbye to Galilee He had a little less than 6 months left of His earth life Jesus was leaving Galilee forever; his great Galilean ministry was ended. He would not return in his life. Can you imagine what he might be sad about - The heavy weight of the supreme sacrifice he was preparing for. He had maybe a little less than 6 months left of his earth life. HE was going to choose the appropriate time for his arrival at the feast He took a moment alone, said goodbye & prepared for what was to come

John 7:10 Goodbye to Galilee He was going to choose the appropriate time for his arrival at the feast

One last moment alone to say goodbye & prepare for what was to come

Meanwhile at the feast what is the question on everyone’s mind? John 7:11-12

What think Ye of Christ? John 7 v12-13 v14-15 v20 v25-27 v30 v31-32

Why such a division of opinion? What think Ye of Christ? John 7:43 Why such a division of opinion?

You want to know who I am? John 7:37-38 I’ll tell you… At the time of Jesus, one of these was the priests drawing water from the pool of Siloam and pouring it out in the holy place of the temple—symbolic of God pouring out His Holy Spirit among the people - His telling them that HE was the living water that would save them- NOT their rituals that they had ADDED to their feast - was a MAJOR turning point for some -

If any man thirst, let him come to me and drink If any man thirst, let him come to me and drink. He that believeth on me...out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

How did they receive his Invitation? John 7:40-53

was a major turning point His invitation was a major turning point His invitation was a major turning point some were moved to believe others were moved to violence and opposition Others I am sure were still apathetic - refused to be moved at all - Does His invitation Move YOU?

Some were moved to believe & others were moved to violence & opposition His invitation was a major turning point some were moved to believe others were moved to violence and opposition Others I am sure were still apathetic - refused to be moved at all - Does His invitation Move YOU?

Others were apathetic and refused to be moved at all

Does His invitation move you?

How can we trust what he says? Who is he really? How can we trust what he says?

Do & Know John 7:17 Christ challenged the non-believers

Of the Doctrines of Christ you must be moved to Action If you want a testimony Of the Doctrines of Christ you must be moved to Action If we want a testimony of any of the Doctrines of Christ - We must be moved to Action -

Are willing to Act? to find out? to Test? to Persist in doing? We are amazed sometimes when we read the reluctance of the Jews to believe the Savior.... But we have to ask ourselves the same question... and ask ourselves are we any better? Are we Moved to action - to believe on his Name, To Let it Change Us To Act as a Disciple Next slide: Mormon Message: No cussing club 4:57
