WHY? REMEMBER To show why and how AVCD uses public funds To document that AVCD uses public funds for intended purposes, which is… to make positive and lasting impacts in the lives of Kenyans. To share program ideas and to learn Accountability REMEMBER Emotion Inspires People to Action Find a Hero in every story you want to tell Never forget what you are trying to achieve

The Message Triangle How? Unique Position Why? What? Common Interest We partner to end extreme poverty and promote resilient, democratic societies while advancing our security and prosperity. What? Achievable Goal Why? Common Interest

Illustrate Impact Build up to IMPACT communicate progress;  USE POWERFUL STATISTICS that show a large, specifically defined change; Remember: The best short stories typically include both a human interest lead that illustrates how a project has improved people’s lives or made a difference in the host country and results to back up our claim to success.

Basic Criteria Storytelling dos and don’ts 300-500 words Must contain a title, subhead, quote, and photo (jpeg format) with caption and credit Must contain human angle and beneficiary quotes Storytelling dos and don’ts Translate technical jargon e.g. capacity building No acronyms Use quotes from Kenyans Needless detail Paint a picture

Any additional logos can only be placing it to the right of the USAID logo at the bottom. No text or partner logos can be placed within the upper blue banner.
