Kharkiv region According to the rating of British Consulting Company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) specializing in the area of education and training abroad, in 2016 year National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» has been reckoned among the best world-wide higher educational institutions. Nowadays NTU «KhPI» is functioning and developing, thus embodying the principles of Bologna declaration (Magna Charta of European universities) which it jointed in 2005.

History of University has become an integral part of the scientific, technical, intellectual and cultural history of Ukraine National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», founded in 1885, is in the top ten higher education institutions of Ukraine. The name of a Noble Prize winner L.D. Landau and the names of worldwide known scientists such as academicians N.N.Beketov, P.P.Budnikov, A.K.Valter, A.M.Lyapunov, N.D.Pilchykov, K.D.Sinelnikov, V.A. Steklov, G.F. Proskura, the honorary doctors D.I. Mendeleev and N.Y. Zhukovskyi as well as the name of professor V.L. Kyrpychov, the founder and the first Rector of University are related to Kharkov Polytechnic Institute. With the birth of Ukrainian technical science in the fields of mechanics, theory of strength, theoretical and applied physics, applied chemistry, aviation, nuclear physics and cryogenics, electrical power engineering, heat-and-power engineering, tractor- building, tank-construction, diesel locomotive construction is closely related to the University.
