Application Process Fidos has a special Intake Coordinator Intake Coordinator encourages applicate to visit facility on a Saturday to watch training prior to applying Once completed application is received an interview is scheduled with the Client Review Committee which consist of Trainers Clients Director of Client Services Intake Coordinator Social Worker Executive Director Director of Training Psychologist Specializing in Veterans with PTSD If not accepted referred to another ADI organization Waiting period for client training start date
Case Management Once client is accepted for training, Case Manager is assigned by Client Services Case Manager works with Client Services and the Training Department Case Manager’s responsibilities: Walk the client through the process Make sure all paperwork is completed Make sure all reading and tests are completed Serve as an advocate for the client Be a sounding board and support person for the client
Team Training Rolling Pre-Admission/Start Date for Client
Team Training Con’t Pre-Match One-on-one trainer/client to begin and as needed through out Client must attend at least 30 hours of class - working with various practice dogs and dogs in training Training classes are: Wednesday’s 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm Saturday’s 11:00 am – 12:30 pm Part of Saturday’s training is a ‘client chat’ where experienced clients share their experiences and newer clients can ask questions Home visit Reading materials and various written tests Meet informally with client, a trainer and Case Manager to ensure the client ready to the next step – good time in their life. Training staff preforms a ‘Match Analysis’ – Dog and Client
Team Training Con’t Match One-on-one training with the matched dog and the dog’s trainer Minimum of 30 hours, whenever the trainer and client can meet Customized training for the clients needs, activities, work and family Testing, ADI Public Access and other specific Fidos tasks and skills 3 overnights between the Client and the match dog to start the bonding period 14 day bonding period, Client doesn’t take the dog anywhere but Fidos or the Vets, unless a trainer is with them. Probationary year Monthly status reports Client must attend 2 training sessions per month with matched during Probationary year
