Physical-Digital Convergence Teach your child how to use knives -- AND digital devices Great uses or negative uses –- teach your children the difference and how to not hurt themselves or others using these critical tools The Digital realm and Physical realm are connected The Digital realm is simply an extension of the Physical realm The consequences of digital activities are real A New Era of parenting – it is essential that you are involved in overseeing your children’s digital life

Cyberbullying Cyberbullying is simply an extension of physical bullying Can be even more damaging than physical bullying as it is shared widely and can stay online forever Words, pictures or postings can hurt more than physical injuries Mental health and legal ramifications Try to talk to your children about their day both in terms of what happened physically and digitally Know who your children communicate with both physically and digitally

Cyber Exploitation Seek to understand the dangers of threat actors having access to your children’s online activities (social media, video games, etc.) Would you let a stranger inside your home or children’s room? Digital Blackmail Human Trafficking Child Pornography Sexual Assault & Harassment Cyberattacks on your home or personal devices / networks

Real-Life Consequences There are many real-life and long-lasting ramifications of illicit digital activity for both Parents & Children Children over 7 can be held legally accountable for illegal activities online Parents who provide their children digital access can (at a minimum) be held liable for financial damages Mental health consequences Child exploitation Physical-digital reputation
