What is structure? Structure refers to how we put something together When we ‘put together’ a text, our structure is our words, sentences and paragraphs We looked at words in the last lesson; today it’s sentences and paragraphs

Sentences – three main types Simple These are short, basic sentences: I went to the shop. Compound These are two simple sentences joined together: I went to the shop and I bought some sweets. Complex These contain two or more parts but at least one isn’t a complete simple sentence: I went to the shop to buy some sweets.

Can you find good/effective sentences in the text? They could be short, important, simple sentences. They could be longer, more detailed compound sentences. They could be detailed complex sentences with description…
