Welcome to Dunholme St. Chad’s Church of England Primary School!

Your New School This is a special book to introduce you to some people you will meet in your new school. It will also help you learn what we do throughout the day in Reception!

Here are Mrs Atkinson, Miss Bell and Mrs Ashall! Monday-Thursday Friday Mrs Atkinson Miss Bell Mrs Ashall Class Teacher Class Teacher Teaching Assistant We are very excited that you will be in our class in September!

Louis! This is Louis who you might have met before. He will show you what to do when you get to school!

The Start of the day You will arrive at school just before 9 in the morning. You can come in the car or walk or if you are very lucky you can come on your bike like Louis!

You can come on the playground and play with your friends, or you can stay with the grown up that brought you to school. Just before 9 o’clock a whistle will blow and you must stand still. When the second whistle blows you must say goodbye to your grown up and walk to your line.

When you get in the classroom there is a bit of organising to do! Louis hangs his coat up on his own peg.

Louis puts his reading folder in the bucket. Finally, he puts his water bottle in the basket near the sink. Louis can have a drink throughout the day if he is thirsty. It helps his brain work!

Oh no. All that drinking made Louis need the toilet Oh no! All that drinking made Louis need the toilet! It’s ok though because Louis has asked a grown up if he can go to the toilet. He is very grown up and he can be very sensible and go to the toilet by himself.

Funky Fingers When Louis has organised himself, he finds his name to self register. Then he joins his group for a fun funky fingers activity. Next we come to the carpet for a song.

When you are the star of the week you get to take the register to Mrs Faria in the office!

Here are some of the things Louis likes to do in school….. Discovery time In Discovery Time, Louis can play with and investigate the resources in the classroom. The grown ups work and play with him to help him learn new things. At the end of Discovery Time, Louis and all the children help to tidy up whatever they have been playing with. Here are some of the things Louis likes to do in school…..

Louis’ favourite things! Louis loves pretending in our role play area… and absolutely loves the cars! Here is Louis in the quiet area deciding what to read with his friends Clara and Seema.

He also likes cooking in our mud kitchen. Louis often chooses to play in the sand pit. Louis’ favourite thing of all is outdoor learning. Here, Louis is going to visit the wildlife area!

That means working on your own! Group time Twice a day Louis works in a small group either with an adult or independently. That means working on your own!

Collective Worship Every day Louis and his friends have Collective Worship in the classroom. We read stories, sing songs and share prayers and reflections. During Collective Worship, Louis has his milk and fruit. Everyone can have a piece of fruit from school or you can bring something from home.

Playtime Playtime is on the school field in nice weather or on the Key Stage One playground. In morning and afternoon play, Louis gets to play with his classmates but he loves it at lunchtime because he gets to play with the older children in Key Stage One.

Lunchtime When it is time for lunch, we go to the toilet, wash our hands and get our drink or lunchbox. Normally, we eat in the hall. Louis is having a hot dinner!

Mid-day Supervisors Louis likes to have a chat to the ladies who look after all the children at lunchtime. Here are some of the lunchtime staff!

Lunchtime play At lunchtime play you can play with the equipment if you want. Louis loves the space hopper!

Louis likes to wave at pre-school at lunchtimes! What can you see? Louis likes to wave at pre-school at lunchtimes!

House Teams When you start school you will be put into a house team. You will be either in Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster or Vulcan. Louis is in Lancaster!

Physical Development When we have PE sessions, sometimes we go outside or we might go in the hall. Louis likes to climb the big wall bars in the hall!

Friendly faces… When Louis walks around school, he likes to say hello to some of the other grown ups. These are some of the people you might see! Mrs Ruff Headteacher

Mrs Carter KS1 Class Teacher Mrs Thompson KS1 Classteacher Mrs Roden KS1 Teaching Assistant Ms Maughn KS1 Teaching Assistant Mrs Roberts KS1 Teaching Assistant

Miss Gibson KS2 Class Teacher Miss Balasz KS2 Class Teacher Mrs Ackroyd KS2 ClassTeacher Mr Parkin KS2 Class Teacher Mrs Tipping Learning Mentor

We are all really looking forward to seeing you in school in September because we know that we are going to have lots of fun together! Louis might be feeling a bit nervous on his first day so please look out for him in case he needs cheering up!
