Presentation transcript:

Fortnightly home learning Year 3 Practise your number bonds/multiplication daily. Complete 3 grids throughout the fortnight as well! Can you complete each one in under 5 minutes for your test? 1 2 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 3 9 8 6 4 1 5 7 10 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 1 2 3 Read daily - It could be a school book or a book of your choice. Try to read a wide range of materials such as information books, poems, stories, reports, recipes, instructions etc. Record your reading in your diary everyday. Here are the exceptional words for this term: eight, caught, centre, century, heart, breath, busy, early. You will be tested on these exceptional words on the week of the 14th December. Here are two tasks you must do to help you learn your spellings. Write your spelling words forwards and then backwards. Each letter has a value. *Consonants are worth 10. *Vowels are worth 5. Write your spelling words. Then add up the value of each spelling word. Example - Said - 10 + 5 + 5 + 10 = 30 You could also do any of the tasks below or any you can think of as extra as well. Create a hidden word picture using this week’s spellings. Rainbow writing - Use different colours to write the word Look, cover, write and say Produce a short story using the words Make flash cards and group the words according to long and short vowel sounds. Use flash cards to play matching pairs Additional Home Learning – You must do at least one of these. We know about prehistoric life from artefacts that have been found, such as food, coins, tools and jewellery. What might historians of the future find out about you from your everyday belongings? Pick at least 5 things and what they might think it is for. Make a one page photo album of prehistoric monuments. You can search for the best images online and stick them into your book. Use the internet or a local library to research the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age history of your local area. Are there any sites to visit or can you find out any relevant online images or news stories? Home Learning due: Thursday 17th December 2015
