WORKFORCE OKLAHOMA TODAY PROGRAM Change your tomorrow…Today Training and Occupational Development for the Advancement of Youth We are here today to tell you about a program that might interest you. The TODAY Youth Program is a youth program geared towards Training and Occupational Development for the advancement of youth. Arbor Education and Training, LLC. If you see yourself in the old one how will you get the income to make repairs? WHERE WILL YOU BE WORKING? Here is the big question. Do you see yourself working in a job you enjoy? Do you see yourself making good money? OR Do you see yourself in a job that you dread going to? HOW WILL YOU GET THERE? What are steps needed to reach your goals? Who can help you plan to ensure you reach your goals? What resources are available to help you meet your goals? So how are you going to get to the car, the house, the career, and the kind of life you want? Who can help you? What resources are available? What is your part? YOUTH PROGRAM MISSION Workforce Oklahoma TODAY Programs enable participating youth to meet their educational and occupational goals through individualized planning, coaching and support services. The Mission of Arbor’s TODAY Youth Program is to help participants meet their educational and occupational Goals through individualized planning and coaching. It is through this planning and coaching that you will begin to build Life–Long Skills necessary for success in the Workforce as American workers and as Valuable U.S. Citizens Revised November 6, 2008

BACKGROUND INFORMATION Workforce Oklahoma Youth Programs began in 1998 Programs are hosted in Workforce Oklahoma One-Stop Career Centers 4 local participating counties TODAY Program is a year round program, including summer activities The Today Youth Program has been in existence since 1998. Our main office is located in Tulsa, however we have case managers in Workforce Oklahoma Centers in 4 local participating counties. The program offers year round activities aimed at educational and Occupational development. Revised November 6, 2008

Resources for education and training. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES Help develop personal, academic and leadership skills Provide educational, employment and supportive services Provide paths to a diploma or GED Provide resources for education or training Help develop occupational skills for future employment TODAY Youth program participants are provided an extensive variety of services designed to Help them graduate from high school and continue in postsecondary programs after graduation. These services include educational and employment supportive services, pathways to diploma or GED, Help developing occupational skills for employment, along with a wealth of knowledge on community, along with Resources for education and training. WHO DOES THE YOUTH PROGRAM SERVE? In-School and Out-of-School youth Youth with Economic Barriers US Citizens The Today Youth program is here for both in-school and out of school youths. We are here for individuals who live in households with limited income. You must be a US Citizen. If you can answer YES to all of the requirements above you are a good candidate for this program! WHO DOES THE YOUTH PROGRAM SERVE? Youth with barriers to education and employment, such as: Difficulty in reading or math School dropout Foster youth, homeless, runaway Pregnant or parenting Offender Do any of the barriers listed below apply to you Difficulty in reading or math School Dropout Foster youth, homeless, or runaway Pregnant or parenting Offender Or require additional assistance to complete your education Or obtain employment. If you answered yes to one or more of the barriers listed Above and you want help overcoming those barriers then you ARE a good candidate for this program! Revised November 6, 2008

WHAT DOES YOUTH PROGRAM OFFER? Assistance with educational and career planning What is your dream for the future? How are you going to get there? Assistance with goal setting Support and services while you work to meet your goals Career Coaches are here to provide you with one on one assistance in formulating an education and career plan that works for you. YOUTH PROGRAM SERVICES Workshops Occupational Academic Life Skills Work Experience Paid, structured work experience in the occupation or career field identified in your plan. Workshops are one of the components of the TODAY Youth program. Workshops are designed to address occupational, academic, and life skills while focusing on issues that are important to our clients. Another component of the TODAY Youth program is Work Experience. Work Experience was designed as a way to offer experience in an Occupation or Career field that identifies with your career plan. That means you get to work in a job prior to having the necessary training and experience needed to perform that job. It is kind of like a test drive in your future career. Revised November 6, 2008

YOUTH PROGRAM SERVICES Summer Enrichment Activities Summer academic and leadership camps throughout the state Leadership Development Occupational Skills Training Funding for post-secondary education or training Summer enrichment is designed to enhance Academic and Leadership Development. Skills through fun activities with opportunities to earn incentives. Revised November 6, 2008

YOUTH PROGRAM SERVICES Tutoring Additional assistance in reading and math Guidance and Counseling Mentoring One on One adult mentoring Additional support to help you reach your goals Tutoring is offered to those students who are needing additional help with math and reading skills. Tutoring is generally offered 2 nights a week for two hours at a time with the ability to earn incentives. Our Youth Career coaches are here to provide you with information on Counseling services as well as offering additional support and guidance in reaching your goals. Revised November 6, 2008

YOUTH PROGRAM SERVICES Incentives Rewards for meeting the objectives set by you and your Career Coach Supportive Services Assistance with clothes for employment Assistance with transportation You keep hearing me say you have the ability to earn incentives. Well…. What that means to you is the ability to earn money in the form of a check for completing objectives set by you and your Career Coach. Those objectives could be attending a workshop, summer enrichment, tutoring, or earning a diploma: just to name a few. There are also supportive services available while in this program. Supportive Services can be assistance with purchasing tools for employment or assistance with purchasing uniforms for work. Supportive Services are meant to address your individual needs that aid in the help with meeting your individual career goals. Revised November 6, 2008

NEXT STEPS Take an interest brochure home and share it with your family Call a career coach to make an appointment If you are interested in the programs and services you have heard about today please take a brochure home and share it with your family. Then you can call and set up an appointment with a career coach. Just leave a message with your name and number if no one answers, and a Career Coach will return your call as soon as possible. NEXT STEPS A Youth Career Coach will contact you to set-up an appointment where you will complete a pre-application The Youth Career Coaches will review your pre-application and determine if you meet the program requirements Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a personal interview with a Youth Career Coach A Career coach will contact you to set an appointment, then we will ask you come in for that appointment. You will be asked to fill out a pre-application and we will answer any additional questions that you may have. If you meet the requirements for membership you will be set up for a personal interview with a Career coach to further discuss a career plan that you and your Career Coach thinks will work for you. ENROLLMENT PROCESS Applicants selected for enrollment will meet with their Career Coach to complete: Skills Assessments Career Assessments Development of an Individual Service Strategy After you get through the initial interviews, you will then be required to take a couple of skills assessment tests to see where your math and reading levels are at. Next, you will take a Career Assessment and begin developing your own individual employment plan. Revised November 6, 2008
