Essential for fostering a national discourse on issues relevant to the country…..what’s wrong with my internet? How can I make it right? Helps to inform policy development – IoT, cloud, cyber security, privacy Strengthens the national voice in regional fora Strengthens regional voice in global fora – diplomacy and the internet (just like climate change) Leads to better outcomes for the region in internet policy

OBSERVATIONS Need to attract resources to help these initiatives develop – technical (streaming etc), subject matter experts (ARIN, LACNIC, ICANN) financial (ISOC, IGFSA, private sector, government Government – see multi-stakeholder approach as a new form of governance…..promoting transparency, accountability, better decision making Need to co-ordinate national IGF’s with regional and global – logical sequence but not always easy CTU has a key role to play – coordinate resources, consolidate issues

Leverage our representatives in LACNIC, ARIN, ICANN, ISOC, CTU – they work for US!
