HELLO!!!!! Find your seat alphabetically! Hope you are in dress code…or adios! ALWAYS use a pencil…if you need one…free today…see the cup! DAY 1 TEST about me and you….yes it will be worth 100 points and the only way for you to not receive 100 is to not complete it! Extra credit for anything correct about me! Get started!

Class Expectation and Responsibilities Mrs. Repko A207 HONORS MATH II Class Expectation and Responsibilities Mrs. Repko A207

What is Math II? Math II combines two courses in an introductory level course, Algebra 2 and Geometry ---if you have already taken Math 2 or not passed Math I speak up NOW! This course is followed by the Math III course which covers the same Algebra 2 and Geometry topics but at a more in-depth level

What is Covered in Math II? Unit 1A & B: Quadratic Functions Unit 2A: Radical Functions Unit 2B: Rational Functions & Systems of Equations Unit 3: Transformations Unit 4: Similarity & Congruence Unit 5: Right Triangle Trigonometry Unit 6: Probability

DO NOT… Have food or drinks Talk while others are talking Be out of dress code…Rules are Rules! Talk or move eyeballs during test or quiz Cheat --- which includes copying homework…oh I despise that! Be a man…own your mistakes don’t cover them! * Sign Honor code and take home for adult! Wait for the Magic Math Fairy to plant information in your brain….YOU MUST STUDY!

Other Things to Know… DO NOT ask for Extra Credit…this is not middle school! I give WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more extra credit opportunities than I should SO you just need to do them when offered and don’t wait until you are desperate! You must SHOW WORK if you expect credit. Humor me and err on the side of caution…show your steps. I will not “text or email or website you”…Be organized and keep a planner!

Other Things to Know… I rarely enjoy repeating myself…listen the 1st time! When announcements are on, phone rings or adult walks in…SILENCE! Know where to go fire or tornado drill

Other Things to Know… If a substitute has to be here… A poor report = severe consequences No cheating Complete all assignments even if you have to take home, you won’t be told to do so IF YOU DON’T WANT MOMMY TO KNOW... Don’t do it!

What do you need for class? Loose-leaf paper and a 3 ring binder (1.5-2 inches) Pencil ONLY…I DO NOT ACCEPT PEN! Dividers (optional) Calculator TI 83 plus or TI 84 plus At least 2 colors of highlighters or colored pencils

How does class begin each day? Warm ups/Bell ringers Use provided sheet, required completion Turn in sheets when notebook is collected at end of the quarter After day 2 grab calculator before sitting Some days homework will need to present on your desk as soon as bell rings…some days it will need to be passed up…be alert and be quick (sorry folks in front this week )

How should my notebook be organized? Notebook dividers: Information & Important Topic sheets (on color paper) Class openers Notes/Examples/Classwork/Homework Quizzes/Tests

What about homework/classwork: Homework is checked usually daily for completion and some are taken up for a grade! Pay attention to what you should do with it at the beginning of each class. JUST DO THE WORK!!!! Classwork will sometime be in partners…this is not YOU do some /I do some…it is YOU BOTH DO and compare work to agree on an answer I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE ASSIGNMENTS!

If you are absent Get the HW assignment (from on your desk or bottom class basket) Do your make up work – don’t delay Three days to make up if excused absence All makeup work must be labeled and turned into your class basket (DO NOT HAND TO ME)…I will not remind you- Snooze you lose! Make sure you understand what was missed Attend tutoring/help sessions Fieldtrip is not ABSENT…you are counted here so your work should be HERE before you leave and get new work before you go!

Your Grade- HONORS Test/Quizzes (60%) – Each Unit will have at least one test. Tests will include mostly free response and some Multiple Choice (work is required always) Homework /Classwork (25%) – checked daily Pop Quizzes (15%) at least once a week on current and/or review topics. (I will drop lowest one) Notebook will be collected at end of each quarter…you will be given example list now, but a more thorough accurate list later.

How are tests different from quizzes? Quizzes are usually announced (homework and classwork will be the best reference to be successful) Tests will be longer and encompass more information from the whole unit and or any other topic When tests/quizzes are finished, they should be returned to the front with your Name on it, READ quietly

When is tutoring available? Tutoring is available either Tuesday or Thursday (3:40 – 4:30) most weeks… schedule to come soon Mornings (8:00-8:30) per schedule…however, let me know if you need help another time…these are just set times. Do not wait until it is too late to take advantage of help sessions

If you need help Consider starting a peer study group Attend tutoring sessions Use the website – www.khanacademy.com Use the website – www.mathisfun.com GOOGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pay attention in class and ask questions Do not wait until the day before a test to get help. Math topics are cumulative!

Needed information from you: Your first homework assignment is to ask your parent/guardian to complete and sign the Expectations sheet. You keep p. 1 in your notebook and return the signed sheet to me by Friday, 9/1!
