CPS Military Solo System HISTORY and TACTICAL ADVANTAGES

Lesson Purpose There are no TLO’s or ELO’s This class is designed to familiarize you with the history, operational limitations and tactical advantages of the CPS Military Solo System

History Corrects deficiencies of MC4 and MC5 Reduced opening shock at all altitudes Better canopy performance during landing Greater stand-off capability Capable of multiple configurations Commonality of equipment for all users Added mission capability and safety to the units Multiple built-in safety features

Configurations Single pin main and single pin reserve containers 360sq.ft., 9 cell, zero porosity top skin and F111 bottom skin, main canopy 375sq.ft., 9 cell, F-111 reserve canopy Double Bag Static Line capability (DBSL) Hand Deployed Pilot Chute (HDPC) Over The Shoulder Main Ripcord (OSMR)

Operating Limitations MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED OPENING ALTITUDES DB Static Line 25,000 ft. MSL Freefall 25,000 ft. MSL MINIMUM RECOMMENDED OPENING ALTITUDES DB Static Line 3,000 ft. AGL Freefall 3,000 ft. AGL MINIMUM RECOMMENDED EXIT ALTITUDES

Operating Limitations Maximum opening altitude is 25,000 ft. MSL Maximum landing altitude is 13,000 ft. MSL (highest tested so far) Maximum exit weight is 425 pounds Minimum exit weight is 220 pounds (The canopy has been tested up to 35k ft. msl.)

Safety Features RSL Collins Lanyard Sky Hook Automatically pulls reserve pin upon cutting away from a deployed main canopy Collins Lanyard Ensures the left riser is released if the cutaway pillow is not pulled completely or the right riser separates for any reason Sky Hook Uses the main canopy as a drogue to rapidly pull the reserve from the container after performing a cutaway

Tactical Advantages Enhanced operating limitations Increased stand-off capability from DZ Deployable from diverse platforms Compatible with other operations Precision lower impact landings Low radar signature and quiet slider

Other Advantages Expanded operational capability Enhanced Safety Features

Questions?

Review Q. What are some of the advantages of the CPS Military Solo System?

Review A. The CPS Military Solo System can be operated in Double Bag Static Line, Over the Shoulder Ripcord and Hand Deployed Pilot Chute configurations

Review Q. What is the maximum canopy opening altitude for the CPS Military Solo System?

Review A. 25,000 ft Mean Sea Level (MSL) for all configurations

Summary Today we discussed the History Configuration Operating Limitations Safety Features Tactical Advantages of the CPS Military Solo System
