Virtual Machine for Windows At the moment “Looking for strange particles in ALICE” is only available for Linux, Ubundu, MacOSX In view of Teachers Day in Greece an ubuntu virtual machine containing this measurement was developed (Dimitris Tsakonas, teacher of informatics) Tested remotely (using TeamViewer) Downloaded the whole Virtual Machine After testing we can make it available for 2014 masterclasses ALICE© | IPPOG Masterclasses Meeting | 14.11.2013 | Despina Hatzifotiadou

Students (each group): Visual analysis of 15/30 events First Part Students (each group): Visual analysis of 15/30 events tables + invariant mass histograms Institute (all groups): Add up numbers / merge histograms / comments Second Part Students (each group): Analyse events in a centrality bin - invariant mass histograms Students (each group): Fit curve/ subtract background-> find number of Λ, anti-Λ and K0s Institute (all groups): Calculate yields of each particle type (give initial number of events from which each sample has been extracted; give global efficiency) Calculate strangeness enhancement (ratio of yields normalised to Npart) Strangeness enhancement plots -> To be presented by Institutes for video-conference ALICE© | IPPOG Masterclasses Meeting | 14.11.2013 | Despina Hatzifotiadou
