Spiritual Father Rahim Khan is seen as Amir’s spiritual father He guides Amir throughout his life He stood up for Amir when Baba was displeaced about him writing Quotations: “I sat on my bed and wished Rahim Khan had been my father” –Amir, Chapter 4

The Phone Call / Meeting Again It is Rahim Khan who phones Amir He tells him about his blood relationship with Hassam He tells Amir there is “a way to be good again” He tells Amir about Sohrab Quotations: “there is a way to be good again”- Rahim Khan, Chapter 14

The Keeper of Secrets Rahim Khan knew about what happened between Amir and Hassan He knew about what happened to Hassan and that Amir saw what happened He knew about Baba and the lies that he had told Quotations: “I am ashamed for all the lies we told you all those years”

Important Quotations Rahim Khan stands up for Amir while Baba talks about his relationship with his son. Showing he is more like a father figure than Baba is. “Children aren’t coloring books! You don’t get to fill them with your favorite colors.. This shows that Rahim respects Amir’s decisions and only wants him to do what he enjoys in life, further showing us his spiritual father side towards Amir. Towards the end of the book Rahim Khan says to Amir “ there is a way to be good again” this shows us that Rahim wants only what’s best for Amir. By saying this he makes Amir realise what he has to do and Rahim Khan knew all along that that was the only thing that would bring peace to Amir’s broken heart.
