Real Bears The biggest bear of all is called a Kodiak bear. It lives on an island in North America. It is as heavy as a small car and can stand as tall as two people. It likes to live on it’s own so it poos in its area to keep other bears away. 2 3

Polar Bears Polar bears live in the North Pole. They are good at swimming. They eat seals and small whales. Baby polar bears are called cubs and are born in a den in the snow. Polar bears have thick fur and fat under their skin to keep them warm in the freezing cold water. 4 5

Sun Bears The sun bear is the smallest bear in the world. It is the size of a big dog and likes to climb trees. Sun bears can be brown, black or grey and have a curved orange or yellow shape on their chest that looks like the rising sun. The sun bear loves to eat honey with it’s very long tongue and sharp claws. 7 6

New Bears Some people are given teddy bears when they are born. New teddy bears feel soft. When teddy bears get dirty some can be washed in a washing machine. 8 9

Old Teddy Bears Old teddy bears have small black eyes and long noses. They have long arms and a hump on their backs. Very old teddy bears have sawdust inside them and some growl when you press them. 10 11

Famous Bears Two famous bears called Winnie the Pooh and Paddington Bear are very old bears. They both like eating. Books and films have been written about these bears. 12 13
