Who We Are Three-way partnership between (Blank) County Imagination Library, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation

Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation’s Role Request state grant funding annually fund 50% of the costs of Imagination Library books and mailing each month seek private and other government funding to support the statewide model offer volunteer training, marketing and grant-making assistance to affiliate programs assist in cultivation & development of local volunteers and funding sources as well as statewide partnerships

501c3’s Role (Name of 501c3 sponsoring org) Conduit for the local county IL affiliate to accept tax-deductible donations and grant funding Maintain a separate bank account for receipt of donations Payment of the monthly book bill to the GBBF Recommended that the Financial Coordinator of the local county Imagination Library affiliate be the same individual that handles the finances for the 501c3 sponsoring organization. Early Literacy Matters Reading Aloud Builds Early Literacy and Improves Listening Skills Develop phonemic awareness Vocabulary, comprehension, concentration, memory and curiosity Of all the activities considered possibly helpful for the acquisition of literacy, only one—listening to stories—was significantly associated with later test scores. Children entering kindergarten with basic reading skills are three to four times more likely to graduate from high school.
