? Burt questions ?

Questions Is the strategy clear? Does it matter who owns the building? Does it matter who manages the facility? Is the new college a scholarly community? Does the university fully understand and commit to the Collegiate Way?

1. Is the strategy clear? For Durham, the new-build strategy is clear but it needs a complementary one for establishing and operating new colleges

2. Does it matter who owns the building? No, but the Service Level Agreement (SLA) must be watertight

3. Does it matter who manages the facility? No, but the Service Level Agreement (SLA) must be watertight (I would much prefer “college” staff)

4. Is the new college a scholarly community? By definition, so it needs the usual things: an academic college principal, engagement of senior academics (fellows), peer-led student programmes, etc.

Colleges are valuable – they must be at the core! 5. Does the university fully understand and commit to the Collegiate Way? Colleges are valuable – they must be at the core! (3rd leg of Durham academic strategy)

Thanks for listening!
