Infrastructure Area EMI All Hands Summary

High-level Overview Status Of Main Objectives 12.5% Complete* 75% In Progress 93.8% On Target 6.2% Problematic * Nearly 

Complete* I1: Investigate messaging for Accounting Work done by the APEL PT Document draft needs finalizing Input welcome from the DGAS PT I7: Messaging guidelines Available online Live document But will be considered final after project month 22 * Nearly 

In Progress I3: Infrastructure Area consolidation Plan presented at this meeting Needs documenting for clarity Some main objects already in the area work plan GLUE 2.0, EMI Registry, ERIS, Usage Records Consolidation in progress Accounting Records Agreement on the ERIS interface EMI Registry prototype Need defined list of objectives for completion Add tasks to the dev tracker

In Progress I5: GLUE 2 information model support All tasks in the dev tracker 3/8 complete I6: EMI Registry implementation Architecture document Implementation plan Prototype Need to include in EMI 2 and evaluate

In Progress X4: Monitoring Probes X7: Platform support Tasks in dev tracker BDII probe already released X7: Platform support SL6 and Debian required for EMI 2 I9: Usage Record publishing via messaging Various pieces exist I4: EMI Cloud and Virtualization architecture Now under NA3 A report should be available soon

To Start I8: Service Management investigation What do we want to achieve? X14: Monitoring interfaces Again, what do we want achieve? X8: Client tool usability Need to know what is wrong first X6: Operating system standards Again, need to know what is wrong first

Problematic I2: Messaging investigation What is service management? Service Monitoring and Management Due project month 14 Survey on Monitoring and Management Nagios probes (results via messaging in SAM) Service Status covered in information system investigation Goal still not clear What is service management? Need concrete requirements/problem description Ownership not clear Who has effort and motivation for this task?

Warnings Service Management investigation Monitoring interfaces Need to clarify objective Specific use cases/requirements Need to identify ownership Effort and motivation Monitoring interfaces

Highlights Cloud and Virtualization Task force move Nagios Probes EMI strategy and sustainability in NA3 Resulting objectives feed into relevant areas Achievable on an 18 month timescale Nagios Probes Direct requirement from EGI Discussion at the last All Hands meeting At least one probe available already released

Highlights EMI Registry EMI Resource Information Service Accounting Prototype available EMI Resource Information Service Agreement on the interfaces Accounting Usage Records almost agreed In the compute and data areas Good progress with messaging adoption

Observation Many presentations in the main sessions Lightweight parallel session Mainly discussions Are infrastructure topics interesting for all? A collection of general topics Rather than real synergies No cross topic discussion Require targeted discussions But these could be anywhere in the agenda

Summary Work on the 16 objectives is progressing well 2 objectives almost complete 9 objectives already in progress Only 1 objective is problematic A few warning signs for 2 or 3 others Need to address this as a high-priority Focus on Service Monitoring and Management
